Hey,

I’m

About Me
A professional headshot of a man (Neil Fahey) with a beard, glasses and short hair

I’m a passionate, creative, and driven Learning Designer, Writer and Editor with a diverse background spanning education technology, online publishing and web development.

In my current role as Learning Designer and Editor at Virtual School Victoria, I collaborate to develop meaningful, accessible and human-centred online learning experiences underpinned by learning theory and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.

With a solid foundation in instructional design, educational technologies, and content creation, I use tools like Moodle, H5P, Adobe Creative Suite and Articulate Storyline to create engaging, interactive courses that achieve learning objectives and improve student outcomes.

I founded the award-winning adventure travel website The Bushwalking Blog in 2009, which remains a valued resource for outdoor adventurers. This business allowed me to hone my writing, editing, and project management skills while gaining experience in writing engaging, entertaining and educational content for diverse audiences. Under this brand, I built a successful online business offering PLB emergency beacon hire, highlighting my ability to apply the design thinking process and transform ideas into practical solutions. I also co-authored a hiking guidebook – A Visitor’s Guide to the Best Walks of the Great Ocean Road – for Woodslane Publishing in 2016.

As a lifelong learner, I’m currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Education (Innovative Learning Design) at QUT, with expected completion in July 2025. I’m always eager to take on new challenges and can quickly learn new technologies, constantly seeking opportunities to apply innovation for more effective communication and organisation, streamlined workflows, and improving the learning experiences I develop.

If you’d like to learn more about me or explore how we can work together, please feel free to get in touch.
